Joshua Smith is a Certified Peer Counselor and Certified Recovery Coach. He has served as a DCYF’s Juvenile Rehabilitation Peer Support Program Specialist. He comes to the Peers Empower Peers Board through pathways and education opportunities directly related to his lived experience and subsequent alternative perspective. Topics related to building community, growing awareness and peer advocacy have followed Joshua throughout his career; including in Workforce Development spaces, directing nonprofits and spearheading multi-district pre-arrest phase programs. Joshua brings these skills, principals and missions with him in order to strengthen the 2022’s “Peers Empower Peers” engagement techniques, processes and overall project development.
